Sometimes we find that information isn't complete on a record in the system. When you go to save or change the status of the record it will give you a validation message like, "Name is required". Simple enough, you update the missing information and proceed. But what do you do when you are trying to activate an inactive record and this occurs? There is a quick work around through advanced find which allows you to make edits without validation.
Open Advanced find and set your Look For as the entity for the record you want to activate.

For example, if you want to activate a contact record and can't because something is missing, set your Look For as Contact.
Set your criteria to find the record or records you want to activate and click Results.

Select your Record and Click Activate.

Activating from Advanced Find lets you get around the validation requirement.
Click on the link to your record and make your changes.
Be sure to update the missing field so that you can save and move forward.
